The module can be used to monitor the statistics regarding the amount of bandwidth used by the user. Bandwidth usage is the total amount of data transferred to and from a web server. Every time someone visits your website data is transferred. The data includes images, files, page data and everything else you see when you view a website. Summary bandwidth is broken up into:
- Incoming traffic is data which comes into a server, as for example when someone downloads a file from the website.
- Outgoing traffic is data which is transmitted by the server , such as a file attached to an email.
There can specific kinds of bandwidth consumption, such as FTP-user, Mail, HTTP, FTP traffic, etc. Normally, bandwidth usage is measured in bytes or megabytes, although other units of measure may be used. The service providers represents bandwidth limits in terms of gigabytes.
The hosting providers can set limits on the amount of bandwidth per month that the user's servers may consume. If you exceed this limit (or quota), you may incur excess usage charges (depending on the rules set by the server administrator).
In this module you can view your bandwidth statistics for a specified period in the past. The traffic information is divided into such categories, as HTTP, POP, SMTP and FTP.
Using "Flash", you can see the graphs revealing useful information about how much bandwidth is used.
